Category: Comparisons
Compare Yuzu's three-track with you and BUMP OF CHICKEN's two-track 天体観測 on track count, catalog price, and listening purpose to pick your first Japanese CD single.
Quick answer
Buy with you first if you want more music and a softer, orchestral listen; choose 天体観測 first if you want a lean two-track single and a lower entry price.
Track count changes the value calculation
The most concrete difference is how much music each disc carries. with you gives you three tracks, including a symphonic orchestra version of 虹, while 天体観測 gives you two: the title song and バイバイサンキュー. If you measure a single by minutes of listening, with you asks more of your budget but returns more material.
That extra track is not filler: the orchestral version is a distinct arrangement, so it rewards listeners who enjoy hearing a familiar song reframed. 天体観測 keeps things tight, which suits anyone who prefers a focused single without alternate versions.
Price and catalog comparison price
At catalog prices, 天体観測 is the lower-cost entry at USD 671.00 against a comparison price of USD 1100.00. with you is priced at USD 753.84 against a comparison price of USD 1047.00. The gap is modest, but it matters if you are buying your first single on a strict budget.
Neither listing supplies option types such as limited editions or bonus items, so treat both as standard single purchases. Do not assume extra packaging or inserts that are not stated in the catalog.
Mood and artist context
with you comes from the Japanese duo Yuzu and includes the upbeat イエス alongside the title song and the orchestral 虹. 天体観測 is by BUMP OF CHICKEN and pairs its title track with バイバイサンキュー. If you already know which artist you want to explore, that preference should outweigh the track-count difference.
This is a comparison of two specific singles, not a ranking of the artists. The catalog facts here describe format and tracklist only, so use them to decide which disc to start with rather than to judge overall career output.
Trade-offs to weigh before you choose
- More tracks vs lower price: with you offers three tracks for USD 753.84; 天体観測 offers two for USD 671.00. Pick with you if the orchestral version of 虹 appeals; pick 天体観測 if you want the lowest-cost entry.
- Focused single vs varied program: 天体観測 keeps a tight two-song format, while with you spreads across a title song, イエス, and an orchestral arrangement. Choose based on whether you want a quick listen or a mini-program. If you often skip alternate versions, the two-track single avoids unused tracks.
- Artist preference over specs: If you already follow Yuzu or BUMP OF CHICKEN, start with that artist's single. The catalog facts do not rank quality, so let your listening habit decide when track count and price are close.
